Trinity Centre Survey

Client
Trinity Centre
Delivery
January 2025
Project Type
Measured building survey and revit model
Location
Aberdeen

Scope

We were instructed by the client to carry out an internal measured building survey of the (infamous) trinity centre walkway and the ex-Debenhams unit. The end result was a rendered walk through and revit model that the client can use to market the unit for potential tenants.

Solution

This was a large project with the team on site for a week scanning. The walkway was completed by photogrammetry using a Mini4 Drone and the Debenhams unit itself with the X7 laser scanner. Due to the sheer size of the site, the team completed almost 1000 scans which resulted in 290GB of raw data for the point cloud.

This data was then processed and registered before finally preparing an accurate 3D revit model and visual walkthrough using TwinMotion. We also extracted 2D CAD floor plans from the revit model to aid in any future design and development.

Kenny Bruce the Centre Manger at Trinity Aberdeen said:

"We are looking at the opportunity to reimagine and utilise the former Debenhams unit here at Trinity Aberdeen, to its best potential for our customers and the city.

To allow us to make meaningful change we spoke with Adaptive Surveys to create detailed survey plan and 3d imagery. This is exactly what we needed to allow us to future plan for the space.

The team at Adaptive were very knowledgeable and fantastic to work with.”

Founder Jamie Watt added, “we are pleased to see that the Debenhams unit is a top priority for the revitalisation of the city centre and that we could help be a part of it.”
