Scope
We were engaged by Whyte & Mackay to create a comprehensive 3D Revit model of their Invergordon Distillery Stillhouse. The primary objective was to support the client’s broader development plans by providing an accurate digital representation of the facility. The model would service as a critical reference point for design and planning upgrades.
Solution
To streamline the process the client provided us with a structured point cloud from a previous laser scan survey, focusing on the central section of the stillhouse. This saved time as we weren’t required on site so the model could be built using existing data. Using Autodesk Revit, our CAD team created a 3D Revit model developed to LOD 250. We would recommend this LOD for most projects as it strikes the right balance between precision and efficiency. In addition to the model, our technician also produced a rendered walkthrough, enabling stakeholders to virtually explore the site. This immersive visualisation of the space provided the client with a clear understanding of spatial relationships, equipment positioning and potential design constraints.
Benefits
Our precise models allowed the client to make informed decisions when it came to planning and design, providing a thorough visual representation of the area.
- Accurate data for informed decision making
- Timely deliverables
- Site visit not required reducing costs and timelines
- Holistic dataset
Providing the next step in the point cloud workflow, our in-house Revit modelling teams deliver highly accurate and reliable models for planning, design or managing any aspect of the real world environment. Find out more here.
